Halton Region
The Regional Municipality of Halton comprises the city of Burlington and the towns of Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills. The region covers over 230,000 acres including about 25km of the shore of Lake Ontario. With the population forecast to exceed 450,000 by 2009 (5 year increase of about 15%) the region is becoming one of the fastest growing areas in the GTA. This forum is provided for discussion of issues related to the Halton Region as a whole. Milton is nestled along the edge of the Niagara Escarpment. The 2006 census deemed Milton the fastest growing community in Canada. In 2007, the population was estimated near 75,000 and is forecasted to redouble by 2021. Milton provides many conservation areas and a wide range of recreational activities.
